How many more planes do you want over your home?

As a shareholder in the Waterloo Airport you get your chance to tell Regional Councillors and the Master Plan consultants what you think is the proper balance between airport expansion and quality of living for residents impacted by airplane noise. Plan to attend the:
Master Plan Open House on Tuesday April 15, 2014 from 4 to 8pm
At The Waterloo Museum, 10 Huron Road, Kitchener

Concerned Residents Against Waterloo Airport Noise [www.crawan.org]
Are very concerned about the following:
1. Night flights from 23:00 to 07:00 should not be allowed, except for in flight mechanical and  medi-vac emergencies . The  current Nolinor flight that wakes residents up at 06:10 must be stopped.
2. Some Master Plan Scenarios propose spending amounts from $50 million to over $500 million to expand an airport that has only achieved about 60% of the last business plan. At a time when the Region will face other large capital expenditures these expensive choices are not prudent.
3. The negative impact on our home values is not being considered in the Master Plan proposals. Research by Dr. Randall Bell shows this impact varies from -3% to -20%, loss in value when your home sells !
4. The 2 largest Master Plan expansion scenarios will create an airport that is too large for the current Breslau location. It is time for all citizens to remember that in 1950, when the cities grew too close to the first Waterloo airport, the airport was moved to a new location in Breslau. Homes in east Kitchener Breslau are now too close for a larger airport--it is once again time to consider a new location for the Waterloo airport.
5. Flight paths must be designed to minimize noise impact on residential areas.
6. The Master Plan committee should consider the impact of noise and pollutants to the air on the health of citizens who live in Waterloo Region.
